The Sumiton Area Veterans Memorial board was selected by Mayor Petey Ellis, who is himself a Vietnam veteran.
Bill Fowler, also a Vietnam veteran was tapped as head of the board and he as worked to turn the vision a reality.
Bill has contracted with a local monument designer for the projects. The models have been made and is scheduled to be built and ready for the September 11, 2010 dedication date.
Momument pavers are being sold to pay for the monument.
